Center for Prehospital Care and Emergency Preparedness
The world of emergency response has changed. Now more than ever, the need exists for comprehensive training and the strengthening of all responder resources. First responders need to prepare to respond to everything from minor injuries to large scale mass casualty incidents. To help meet the needs of the first responder community, The Center for Prehospital Care and Emergency Preparedness at Sanford USD Medical Center is dedicated to delivering comprehensive education and training to emergency responders.
We are focused on providing a wide range of programs for ambulance, fire, law enforcement and hospital based responders. We will also custom design safety and preparedness programs for schools and businesses as well as deliver community based citizen preparedness programs through the EMS Resource Center.

The staff at the Sanford Center for Prehospital Care and Emergency Preparedness collectively has more than 100 years of clinical hands on experience in nursing, paramedicine, flight medicine, disaster preparedness and hazardous materials / CBRNE event response. In addition, the staff has trained thousands of EMS providers during original and refresher programs.
This unique cross section of our staff allows us to deliver a unique multidisciplinary approach to training emergency responders. The end result is a seamless integration of patient care from the site of an incident through hospital discharge.
