Sioux Valley has been driven as a unique and distinct health system based on a model of integration. While some of the best health systems in the country have a similar model, few have the heritage and fewer still have the vision of what it will take to be successful in the years ahead.

For the past 100 years, Sioux Valley has served the patients of this region, bringing health, healing and hope to hundreds of thousands of people. Consistently recognized as the best place to go when you are ill, Sioux Valley has stayed true to its mission of healing. In the mid-1990's, Sioux Valley saw that, to continue its mission successfully for the next century, it would have to raise its performance and its vision. Sioux Valley has moved forward by creating clinical superiority through Centers of Excellence, integrating over 325 physicians in 66 communities, creating facilities and infrastructure to support the organization and developing a culture based upon service excellence. While there is still work to be done achieving this vision, enough has been accomplished to lay the foundation for the health system of the future.

T. Denny Sanford's legacy gift to Sioux Valley coupled with Sioux Valley's vision, strengths and resources will literally transform the newly named Sanford Health in expertise, reputation and scope of services. The Sanford Health Board of Trustees and management team will structure and utilize the gift in a way that will provide immediate benefits in high priority projects and also lay a foundation that will allow for continual advancements and provide world class care for generations to come.
