Anne and Greg Hanson had both been involved in fundraising for Children’s Miracle Network; little did they know the charity they had casually encountered would become the charity that changed their lives.
When their first child, Olivia, was born she appeared normal. That swiftly changed when she began having trouble breathing and was transferred to Sanford Children’s Hospital. Olivia’s breathing was serious enough that she was immediately placed on a ventilator, purchased by Children’s Miracle Network. Olivia was diagnosed with pulmonary hypertension, a life-threatening illness. A Children’s Miracle Network-funded assistance program helped the Hanson’s with meals, mileage and lodging while they stood by their daughter’s side hoping for a miracle. Today, Olivia is perfectly healthy.
Olivia has since become the big sister to Meredith, who also faced breathing difficulties at birth. She too was transported to Sanford Children’s Hospital and diagnosed with Pulmonary Hypertension.
Several years later, you’d never know that Olivia and Meredith had ever been anything but perfectly happy and healthy. These spunky, blue-eyed beauties are the light of their parent’s life and proof that miracles do happen.
