The Trauma Network was created in 2002 to serve as a resource as medical technology changes and to bring the latest training and expertise to the patients of this region. The Trauma Network was designed to keep local physicians and staff informed about the latest developments and best practices in trauma care. Sharing information about new technologies, methodologies, and procedures keeps them abreast of best practices. The Trauma Network supports local physicians and hospitals with leading-edge trauma treatment. As a member of the Sanford Trauma Network, local hospitals have continued their commitment to deliver the highest quality of care. Being part of an integrated system allows these facilities to have access to the latest technology. Trauma is the fourth leading cause of death for all ages combined and the first leading cause of death for persons between the ages of 1 through 44. It is estimated that there are 36.9 million emergency department visits annually related to injuries. The first partnership of this kind was introduced in 2000 with the Chest Pain Network. |
